My First Interview...
Good Day all~!
Finally, got an offer for Internship! Been waiting for three months on this! After all that sweat designing the "perfect" Resume and Cover Letter had paid off. Applied for about 10 companies via post but none replied. Also applied at jobstreet. One of the company turned down on my application but they put my resume in the "For Future Consideration" box..well at least they know of my existence now. lol. Last but not least, I posted my application on my favorite internet forum, Lowyat.net and guess which hit the jackpot? Its the latter! how ironic!
Getting desperate as the due date for Internship application registration draws nearer. On top of that I have to really focus on my studies for the Final exam. On the late hours of last Wednesday, I got an email from Mr. James from Speed Drives and Automation Sdn. Bhd. offering me for an Internship placement in his office next month. He's kind enough to postpone my interview after my last paper. (Thank You Mr. James!)
Finally, the exam's over! Bye bye textbook, hello freedom! Well, not quite, still got one project to present. Now I have to figure out how to get to Mr James's office. His office is in Bandar Bukit Puchong and the interview is 9.30am today.
I'm bad with directions and I don't have a GPS device. Thanks to Google Maps that is not a problem anymore. Getting there is much easier than I thought! From UNITEN travel along Lebuhraya Lembah Kelang Selatan and onto LDP and turn left after the toll and before I know it, I'm there! the journey took less than 20 minutes and traffic was awesome! Was speeding but still got people tailgating me! (Curses!)
I arrived 15 minutes before the stipulated time. After filling up the employee registration form (not sure the exact name), one of Mr. James technician came into the office to repair some display device that's connected to the control box (Its a PLC if i'm not mistaken). The display device is the one when you go to banks the device will shout "satu satu empat tiga, kaunter lima..". And the technician was also repairing some old and malfunctioning servo motor.
Lessons learnt today:

Lessons learnt today:
- How to troubleshoot that "satu satu empat tiga, kaunter lima" device. (sorry i don't know what its called, is it the index number machine?)
- How to label a wire.
- The servo motor is using a single phase power supply.
and that's before the interview! Thank You Mr. James for the experience!
Now the interview part. Mr. James i hope you don't mind if I share my experience during the interview? As usual it began by self introduction. But then I was asked to draw the "star" and "delta" power connection. I only recall the "wye" and "delta" connections..oops.. Then I was asked a few questions related to motor, drives and inverters..can't answer that too..oops.. should have prepared myself with these questions! Luckily i managed to answer the "this resistor is how many ohms?" with flying colors.. Phew~
That's about it I suppose. I was asked to check in on the 12th April and Mr. James will teach me how to program a PLC and some circuit assembly stuff. I can't wait to learn! Sifu please teach me!
Stay tuned for more!
