A Friendly Visit

So much for the closure of this blog..but I have got to write about today's visit. I "left" something very important behind. Something that can put my entire 11 weeks of internship in vain. Here's the story:

Internship report: DONE. All 79 pages of it! Took me almost a week to finish it! There's really that much to write about! Ok then the presentation. Piece of cake! Let's put a little "technology" into my presentation. I used the wireless mouse to switch between slides while others stood very close to the laptop to access the next slide. Presentation was a breeze! Let's do it again! Naah, just kidding.

Submitted the report, presentation slides, evaluation forms, etc. My report cost me about RM20!! Wa lao eh!! I wonder whether they will go through the report word by word or they'll just put it under the desk and recycle the papers once the results are out..But I forgot one document, the Internship Completion Certificate. I thought it was just for me to keep and has nothing to do with my internship grades so I ignored it. I wouldn't want to burden Mr. James with that.

Last Wednesday my internship supervisor, Puan Norani called me and asked for that certificate. The conversation goes something like this:

Puan Norani:  Hairol, awak ada ambil tak sijil tamat industrial training?
Me:               Err..saya tak ambil..saya ingat sijil tu untuk saya simpan je..
Puan Norani: Ehhh..tak lah, saya perlukan copy sijil tu untuk upload markah industrial training awak ni..kalau tak de sijil tu awak tak pass tau! Bila awak boleh bagi saya sijil tu?
Me:                Alamak, kalau saya bagi isnin depan boleh tak Ma'am?
Puan Norani:  Ok janji pada saya tau!

Emailed Mr. James about the issue but instead of a certificate, I requested a confirmation letter which is acceptable. Today is the day. After completing my daily obligation as a COE Kiosk (UNITEN) employee that is to open and prep all of the PCs, printers and copy machines, I went straight to Puchong to collect the letter.

The journey took me about 15 minutes. Told Mr. James that I will arrive at 9.20am but turns out I was early for five minutes. I had this weird feeling of familiarity, as if I was still doing my internship there. Was shivering when I got out of the car. As I approached the door and pressed the door bell, my former collie opened the door for me. He seem to be quite shocked to see me at the other side of the door. Maybe Mr. James has not told him about my arrival. My used-to-be workstation is just as tidy and neat since I left the company. My former collie is doing a great job maintaining it. Kudos to him.

Without further a due, I went straight to Mr. James's office to collect the letter. He greeted me with a friendly smile. There was a very friendly atmosphere inside the office and I never felt so welcomed. He smiled almost every word he uttered. Its the kind of smile that will keep you feeling contented for a million years. Oops, maybe I exaggerated a bit on the last sentence there..After obtaining his signature he escorted me to the door and I left. Did not manage to chat much with my former collie since I have to be back at UNITEN at 10am for class but at least he knew my intention of visiting the office today.

Started the ignition and saw the clock on the dashboard showing "9.30am". Hey, I still got time for breakfast!

Visited my favorite Malay restaurant near the office for breakfast. Its the same restaurant I had breakfast since Day 1 of my internship. Amazingly the waiter there still remembers my favorite drink after almost one month! My favorite teh tarik is readily served in front of me moments after I sat! Two of them was curious about my "disappearance" and asked, "Lama tak nampak! Ingatkan dah kahwin ke ape.." Hahahaha good one! I immediately burst into laughter! Suddenly I don't feel sick anymore with all these friendly and caring people around me! Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm having a mild fever since Friday.

This part of Puchong really caught my heart. Honestly I was brimming in tears (bergenang air mata) during my drive back to UNITEN. I was listening to a song from Rob Thomas entitled, "Little Wonders" while reminiscing all the sweet memories when I was doing my internship. Great song to cherish wonderful memories.

p/s: this picture was taken on the early days of my internship.

Before the internship I decided to pursue a major in computer engineering but finally I decided to change to control engineering that is related to my previous internship. Puan Norani's status has been "upgraded" to my FYP Supervisor. I feel confident to have her as my FYP mentor and she was very kind to help me settle some issues regarding my FYP title with the FYP committees. I really really hope this last year in university will turn out well.

Till we meet again~!
